The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Plant Engineering Controls Engineer/Technologist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Lead projects resolving complex technical equipment issues to improve or resolve equipment downtime and efficiency issues.
  • Implement, and lead various technical projects associated with facility and manufacturing equipment across all site businesses. 
  • Determine gaps in self-development and expand extensive high-level troubleshooting capabilities to provide tactical support for day-to-day manufacturing operations.
  • Support plant operations by performing tasks around optimal safety, quality, and efficiency through robotics, PLC programming, vision, automation, and SCADA
  • Willingness to be on-call and respond to the plant both weeknights, and weekends.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Three (3) combined years of experience in robotics, PLC programming, vision, automation, and/or SCADA in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Planned and lead projects involving multiple people in controls automation with a successful outcome.
  • 5 years of project work focused using robotics, PLC programming, vision, automation, and SCADA.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment using analytical tools for troubleshooting and root cause analysis implementing Lean Six Sigma methodology and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills both verbal and written, analytical and organizational skills to manage different priorities/projects.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgency.

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
