The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Plant Engineering Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Leading Maintenance and Tool & Die Teams.   Providing direction on scheduling and assignments to salaried and craftspeople in the fabrication, installation, operation and performance of maintenance on equipment and/or facilities.
  • Evaluating and providing proper training, tools, equipment, and information including any changes that may affect employees work environment. Monitoring and maintaining a safe work environment by reviewing employee training specific to their craft and/or work assignment.
  • Applying broad knowledge and extensive experience to deal with variations in work conditions and operations to solve complex and diverse problems on facilities and equipment. Supervising the development and implementation of improvements and/or solutions to work processes and tools in support of business and strategic plans.
  • Supporting automation and disruptive technologies implementation.  Continuing to strengthen team capabilities to support in Controls, PLC, Robotic, Laser, 3D Printing, Vision Systems, and high precision tooling.
  • Assessing facility and equipment condition.  Proposing facility/equipment improvement projects based on the assessment and assisting engineers on these projects.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and two (2) years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment

OR

  • Associate’s Degree/Technical Diploma (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and four (4) years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment

OR

  • High School Diploma/GED (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and six (6) years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master's degree in Science is a plus
  • Five (5) years of experience with electrical, controls, facilities, machine shop, and plant engineering preferred
  • Three (3) years of supervision experience
  • Engineering project management experience
  • Complex problem solving skills

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
