Purpose of Role

The healthcheck is our product for assessing your health through a questionnaire and exploring with a digital twin.

We are evolving this to an intelligent simulation and prediction service that gives users a complete predictive view of their long-term health, empowering them to stay happier and healthier for longer. We will combine medical understanding and technical ingenuity to provide a platform that can be used for all health prediction purposes.

The Director of Engineering is the most senior technical leader for a tribe. Line manages the entire technical team thats fully dedicated to the tribe. The director will build the technical organization and the strategy for the tribe and ensure group delivers on business requirements. A director combines strategic thinking and cutting edge technology with our roadmap and ensures the tribe delivers. The director is responsible for mentoring, developing and performance managing the leads who report to them. You will be expected to be familiar with software engineering management principles and to develop their managerial skills as well as maintain technical hands-on knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical leadership to multiple teams
    • Owns the strategy, budgets, hiring for the technical side of the tribe
    • Ensure tribe delivers as a whole and works well with other tribes
    • Help the teams grow quickly through the period of hyper growth
    • Coach engineering leads on how to best lead and inspire their teams.
    • Ensure the teams follow rigorous engineering processes, appropriate for a regulated environment
    • Drive the technology and the organization forward

Key Skills required:

    • Experience of leading engineering teams of at least 20 people.
    • Experience of mentoring engineering managers and team leads
    • Experience building software with either large scale and AI capabilities
    • Architect with current architecture skills, capable of leading design reviews for complex systems
    • Experience of devising and managing software engineering processes, especially in regulated environments.
    • 8 years minimum experience of commercial software development
    • At least 5 years as a manager of teams.

Qualifications and Experience:

    • CS degree from a recognised institution at 2:1 grade or international equivalent
    • Research experience
    • Healthcare experience
    • Knowledge of simulation and predivtive systems a plus.
