DevOps Engineer (Security Solutions)

We are looking for a highly experienced DevOps Engineer to join our agile operations team in Cambridge, UK.  Our operations team is responsible for delivering the applications and infrastructure necessary to support our R&D, corporate and customer-facing services.  This includes tightly integrated DevOps pipelines connecting code changes to multiple Cloud deployments through automation, to support our Agile workflows. 

Your primary focus will be working to improve our ‘on premise’ infrastructure, modernizing where possible and moving workload to the Cloud wherever possible.  This opportunity is ideal for those with a solid background in DevOps or Sys Admin.  You should have a strong track record of working closely with engineering and product teams and of working in fast moving environments where security, reliability and availability are critical.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Managing on premise infrastructure and services, migrating to the Cloud where appropriate

  • Designing infrastructure with security as a key objective, and work to improve security of existing services

  • Where possible, ensuring build flows are fully automated

  • Ensuring appropriate availability, reliability and scalability of applications and services

  • Assisting with the day-to-day system upgrades and operations, where required

Job Requirements:

  • Expertise with scripting languages (PowerShell/Python/Bash)

  • Solid experience in Systems Administration (Windows and Linux)

  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and operation of cloud applications (AWS/Azure)

  • Solid understanding of networking principles and storage fundamentals

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related technical discipline or equivalent

The following skills and attributes are a plus:

  • Experience managing CI/CD systems and automation (Jenkins/Azure DevOps)

  • Experience in configuration management and infrastructure as code (Chef/Puppet/Ansible/Terraform/Desired State Configuration)

  • Use of analytics systems (Elastic Stack) to monitor systems and diagnose problems

  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies
