We only extract content from the
/posts folder of your .zip file, so please leave these files intact. You can remove all the other files if you'd like. We don't process any of that.
When importing, we copy over the images in your posts to our own storage. This is to avoid hotlinking and potential broken images from link decay.
We don't store the .zip file that you upload, we extract your post data out of it and store your posts in a temporary text format before importing.
Due to the structure of the Medium export file we have to make a web request to each of your published posts on Medium to fetch embedded content and other information, so please ensure your published posts are publicly accessible. This also means that we are unable to show you a preview of your posts before importing as it could take up to a couple of minutes to process them.
Exporting your data
You can export all of your posts from Able in JSON format, with accompanying images. For details, see our page on downloading your data.
Deleting your data
Deleting your Able account will delete all of your account data, including images uploaded to your account. For details, see our page on deleting your account.
We try our best to parse your posts accurately but there may be some specific markup that may not be converted correctly. Please let us know about any issues so that we can improve our import service over time. It's always a good idea to check that your post is correctly formatted before publishing.
