Role and Responsibilities
Conduct complex engineering, analytical, functional, and mathematical simulation analysis for the design, development, operational performance, and radio frequency (RF) optimization of cellular networks. Conduct Radio Frequency (RF) Optimization (RF Performance) - 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) Mobile Networks of company’s Radio Base Stations for Verizon. Gather radio events during field measurements based on VoLTE (LTE Voice of IP), Data Download and Uploads of cell phone calls by making use of data collection tools of a 4G cellular cluster/network, using data collection tools such as XCAL and 4G Systems Real Time Monitoring (Samsung 4G Platform VLSM, Verizon Real Time Tool, Samsung Performance Tool Spotfire, and ALPT Tool from Verizon). Prepare, test, and implement radio-related scripts used to program/commission 4G Radio Stations on Verizon Mobile Systems Sites (cell towers, rooftop, and indoor radio base stations systems). Track and provide solutions to customers on issues of integration and service activation. Create Radio Frequency parameter scripting (programming lines using Samsung Base Station Systems Language in YANG Model (XML format) based on 3GPP/3GPP2 technical specifications) and Samsung 4G feature solutions. Perform system feature testing for company’s LTE Advanced 4G networks, including Inter-Cellular Load Balancing, Carrier Aggregation, Automatic Neighbor Relation, SDL (Supplementary Downlink, Mobility Parameter Improvement (in Idle and Connected modes), etc. Propose feature parameter settings, engage with Lab Testing R&D Teams for validation prior to real world testing. Responsible for field testing of related features, call post processing and result analysis. Prepare technical reports, compile, and analyze data and engineering information for the effective communication of processes, results, plans, recommendations, and conclusions. Provide Radio Frequency (RF) systems engineering support for customers. Analyze and compare the performance results with expected/benchmark performance thresholds, coordinate with customer engineers and Samsung HQ and provide recommendations and optimization suggestions for any performance gaps. Expand technical knowledge in Radio Frequency Long Term Evolution (LTE) and Solution technologies for internal employees and customer. Perform technology trial and participate in technical demonstrations and knowledge sharing with customers.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field and 8 yearsof progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation in the wireless telecommunications industry. Experience must include: 1) One year of experience in disaggregated RAN functionality and Front haul, mid haul, and back haul requirements. 2) Three years of experience with latency aspects for transport networks. 3) Three years of experience with RLC/MAC layer, different types of control channel and traffic channels, network access procedures, power control, handover algorithms, QoS types, TDD/FDD modes, and HARQ/ARQ concepts. 4) Two years of experience developing tools and scripts to automate tasks on OSS and eNBs to aide with the investigation. 5) Five years of experience in wireless network architecture concepts in RAN domain. 6) Two years of experience in UNIX/LINUX operating systems. 7) Four years of experience in customer support.
