Sonos is seeking a senior level Electrical Engineer to join its team of highly motivated, collaborative Electrical Engineers that are responsible for both Analog and Digital development and design. This team is responsible for the development of electronic circuits for our next generation audio products. For this position, you will be focused on the digital side of the electronic product development, and should therefore have a thorough understanding of low voltage, high speed (GHz) digital design, although you’ll also be engaged in electronic design for mixed signal and power circuitry. You’ll have the opportunity to have broad engagement across the entire product development organization, with the goal of delivering leading edge audio products for home and beyond. This position can be based either in our Santa Barbara or Boston office. Relocation is available.
What You’ll Do
Develop and design digital electronic circuits for new audio products
Learn and bring in new digital technologies to Sonos product development team
Advance the simulation and test methodology of digital design
Ensure design compliance with all industry standards and regulatory requirements including EMC
Work cooperatively across multiple disciplines in a fast-paced environment to achieve successful end results
What You’ll Need
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent STEM degree, with 5-10+ years of related industry experience OR Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent STEM degree, with 3-5+ years of related industry experience.
Practical design and test knowledge in most of the following areas: high speed (>1GHz) System on Chip (SoC) embedded solutions, DDR DRAM and NAND/NOR memory architectures and standards, Ethernet communication standards, high speed IO standards (PCie, SDIO, USB), low voltage regulation design.
Experience working across multiple disciplines in one or more of the following: analog and power electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, radio engineering, system software, and other product development engineering teams including hardware validation, compliance, audio etc.
Well-developed reporting and communication skills, including the ability to explain and summarize complicated issues.
Experience in high speed PCB digital design and test including differential signal pair routing, signal termination, timing driven layout using signal integrity simulation derived constraints and benchtop measurements using a high speed oscilloscope.
Experience with Digital Audio standards such as I2S, SPDIF, HDMI, and MIPI
Experience in analog circuit design (voltage threshold detection, current sensing, power regulation)
Experience using RF and/or EMC test equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, Agilent or IQFlex WiFi analyzers)
Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements and testing procedures (ESD, EMI, safety)
Knowledge of Linux embedded system application support (file system navigation, scripting and device setup)
Technically inquisitive – must be able to take on new technical demands and learn new technical skills on-the-fly and apply the knowledge to solve the issue at hand.
