Max is an impact investing professional, with over a decade of experience in driving access to capital for scalable, impact ventures on the African continent . He graduated from the University of Cape Town with a BCom Finance degree before moving to the UK. He spent over 5 years in Corporate, Business and Investment Banking, starting his career as a Business Consultant at Lloyds TSB and ending up as an analyst at Schroders Asset Management.
In 2006, Max returned to South Africa and went on to co-founding Africa’s first social enterprise incubator. He was also responsible for establishing the South African ANDE (Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs) Chapter, part of the Aspen Institute in Washington DC. ANDE is a global network of organizations that invest money and expertise to propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets.
In 2011 Max co-founded Impact Amplifier, an accelerator and capital advisory firm headquartered in Cape Town. In 2015, Max became a director of Earth Capital, an impact investment asset manager based in South Africa. In 2016, Max set up and became the CEO of GreenFingers Mobile, a technology platform for managing and financing smallholder farmers in Africa. Max speaks at numerous conferences on impact investing, acceleration, social entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems and writes opinion pieces for various media.
Max has in recent years focused his personal efforts in helping founders, understand the sub conscious drivers of their success as entrepreneurs. Max believes that the greatest influencer of entrepreneurial success is the state of their mindset, and their ability to discover and release sub-conscious traumas from the past, which influence every aspect of their life. In a world of tremendous change, the ability to raise one's awareness, and 'access flow states' to intuitively solve problems, will be a major driver in creatively envisioning a better future.
