Tadhg Boyle and I are starting a privacy focused web, mobile, and eventually desktop, chat service, called Secretum. This is just a cool project to work on, and to learn more about webdeving and programming with privacy, not just in consideration, but as a primary focus. We are not planning to be a competitor to any major players. My role will primarily be the database and the mobile apps.
What I hope to learn thought out the course of the project:
Interactively using PHP
How to connect to a database using Flutter/Dart
How to check the database even when the app is closed.
How to keep the minimum amount of information about a user as possible
Reenforce my skills in SQL and Database Design
Continue to expand my capabilities in Flutter/Dart
I'll post our progress and updates here.
Sounds like an interesting project. Will it be open-source? That might allow you to get advice and input from others. Will you be using any PHP frameworks? Web sockets? How will you be handling encyrption?
Sorry for the late reply.
> Will it be open-source? Yes, it'll be available at https://github.com/Project-Secretum
> Will you be using any PHP frameworks? Web sockets? I'm not sure, I know practically nothing about PHP, but Tadhg does, so when he gets back I'll ask him.
> How will you be handling encyrption? Also, not sure. I do know we will do a private/public key thing, and we might use Signal's protocols.
Thanks able for breaking that formatting... I can't even edit it [shrug]
Yeah, our comment formatting could be better 😂. I normally just delete and repost. Bear with us, we're working on it!
